Why do we use recycled paper bags?

The choice was carefully considered, thinking about the sustainability and environmental impact of the packaging and transportation of all products sold online in this historical moment.

Glass

Producing glass generates many polluting emissions, specifically greenhouse gases.

Melting sand to produce glass for bottles/jars generates emissions of 60 megatons of CO2 per year.

Recycling glass uses about 90 megatons of CO2 per year because, in addition to melting, there is collection and road transport.

A dark glass jar currently costs (glass prices increase almost monthly) approximately €2.50 + 22% VAT, which we would have to add to the final product.

Glass is heavier, and the cost of transport and the environmental impact of fuel would increase.

Glass can break, so we would have to use extra packaging, which would impact production/recycling and add additional costs to the final product.

Paper

The recycled and infinitely recyclable paper we use for our bags, on the other hand, represents a significant environmental advantage.

No new trees are cut down, which are essential for our survival, as they convert CO2 into Oxygen.

Recycling paper produces between 130 and 250 kg of CO2, depending on the energy source used.

Paper packaging is light, does not break, and does not need extra packaging.

We have eliminated the open/close tab because it only exists in plastic, and if the customer does not manually separate it from the paper bag, the recycling of both materials would be nullified, ending up in undifferentiated waste that is then burned and/or buried, thus having a crazy environmental impact.

Preservation of the active ingredients of our products

The bag is entirely lined with a special barrier, also made of cellulose, which ensures the maintenance of the active ingredients and protection from light.

The solutions for not leaving the package open are to close it with a clothespin or one of the many bag clips we all have at home.

The alternative is to recycle one of the many dark glass jars (from some medicine). Just boil it (including the lid) and dry it well, and the environment will thank you 🙂
